Air cell structures are advanced air inflated structures made with two layers of material. The skins have fabric formers, commonly called baffles connected perpendicular to the outer and inner skin membrane. They are self-supporting and self-erect-able by means of an air inflation only with no need for foundation, hardware or guy wires.
Air cell inflatable buildings or pneumatic buildings can act as a long term temporary structures having high torsional stiffness which allows them to typically withstand wind loads up to 70 knots.Â
Inflatable cell buildings have great thermal and sound insulation properties and support significant loads from the roof and walls. These fixtures are typically used for lighting, lifting and other cabling requirements.Â
The life expectancy of inflatable buildings depends upon the climate in which they are installed and particularly the levels of UV light to which the pneumatic structures are exposed.Â
Inflatable cell structures have few limitations to design geometry. The only limiting feature is that the building must have a sufficient air gap to create the required rigidity
They are aptly suited to be used for:-
